How do i set up "my passport for mac" on windows 7?

can i use a my passport for mac with my windows 7 laptop? also is there anyway to use it like a big flash drive instead of just for backing up? please help as i have no idea how to work this thing. thank you for reading. kudos for any helpful advise!

ps i only wish to use the drive for my laptop(if that changes anything?)

If it is a passport for Windows just download NTFS-3G http://mac-free.com/download/NTFS-3G.html and install on the Mac. It should work then.

its the other way round its for mac and i wish to use it for windows7

Then hook it up to Windows and format it NTFS because the similar software for Windows isn’t free. Here is one http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive/

what do i do to format it? i am a complete beginner as i only just got the drive. sorry for not being very skilled.

i think ive got it working but how do i get rid of virtual cd thingy with the smartware cause i just wish to use it as a giant flash drive rather than for backing things up.
