Can't install 1 tb passport se on XP machine

Trying to help my in-laws out by giving them a simple backup drive.  i plug in the 1 tb passport essential SE into their xp computer.  New Hardware dialouge box comes up but it can’t find the driver.  Not sure what to do.  Thanks

Is their XP upto date with SP3? Have you tried different USB ports one on the back frequently works best.
