i have a my passport 1tb usb 3.0. this thing is useless. i bought it because it was cheaper than other 1tb externals, using it to watch movies on my tv. as if the hardware encryption wasnt crappy enough, ive notice something, IT ENCRYPTS OTHER COMPUTER DATA TRANSFERS. file copying, drive to drive AND ALSO WINDOWS 8 INSTALL FROM DVD. for my drive to drive (2 internals) i can copy a 12gb movie in 2-3 minutes, with this piece of [Deleted] plugged in, try 30 minutes. the windows 8 installer, get file corruption errors unplug the drive, runs like a dream. Western Digital you have gone to [Deleted], the world wouldnt miss you if you went brankrupt tomorrow. even your internal drives are starting to turn to [Deleted]. Either give us software to manually edit the firmware, or advertise your products cause more problems than they solve.
The Passport will only encrypt the files you save in it. Be sure to connect the Passport to a USB 3.0 port on your PC to have USB 3.0 transfer speeds.
