WDR Driver cannot get uninstalled in Windows 7 Ultimate

Hi,

I’m running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. My unit (WDBPCK3200ABK-01) is not recognized in my laptop (I’ve tried all fixes suggested elsewhere using Device Manager, Compute Manager, etc.) The unit does work properly, however, in 2 other PC’s (one running XP and the other Vista 64 bit.)

One thing I want to try to fix the issue with the laptop is uninstalling the WDR driver that shows on the Device Manager window. When I click on uninstall, the system prompts me to reboot the computer, which I do. Without anything connected to the computer, as soon as the computer restarts, I can see a status dialogue popping up indicating that a driver is being installed. When I look at the device manager again, the driver is still there. It seems to reinstall itself over and over, like a bad virus.

Does anyone have an idea of how to get rid of this driver? Thanks. Apologies if I’m not providing with enough information.

Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this. You can do so either by phone or email.
