WD essentials hdd gives write protect error but works fine when removed from encloser

Hi there.

A friend of mine ask me to help her with her failing essential external hdd. I removed the hdd from the encloser and connected it to the sata cable of the computer. I ran some tests like chkdsk and scandisk which have corrected some errors.

Then i created partition and formated it. But when i put it back in the encloser then it gives me write protect errors.

Diskpart says there is no read-only set on disk.

Anything else i can try?

Hi, please note that removing the internal hard drive from the case will void the warranty. It is possible that the internal board is faulty, you can try using DLG to write zeros. Follow the link below for more information.

Sometimes deleting the drivers for the drive, disconnecting it and then rebooting PC and reconnecting the drive will work. It might also be a permission ownership issue check on that also.
