WD Passport Stopped working properly on my Main Computer only

It used to work on all computers. Now, it works on all computer I put it on except on my main computer. My main computer can still detect it but it’s either of the two instances:

#1 - Subfolders and files inside folders are missing

When I connect it the usual way, I can’t see subfolders and files inside the main folders.

* Sometimes, the subfolders show up, but when I try opening them, a warning will show that the directory doesn’t exist.

#2 - Read only

I can read the files from it perfectly when in Read only mode which I can accomplish using the following steps:

Connect Drive

Set Drive to offline in Disk Management

Disconnect Drive

Connect Drive

Try checking show hidden files in Folder Options and see if they show then.

I already did. Still doesn’t show anything

Go into hardware manager find the drivers for the passport then delete them disconnect it and reboot system. Then reconnect the drive that should load fresh drivers. sometimes that helps.

Will try this later and update the thread if it works. Thanks Joe_S

I have WD Passport 320Gb in size and it manifests itself both ad WD1 and second time as SES deviceon my linux system which today is Peppermint Five. the latest one available in Finish mirrors. It has been working about 2 and half years on my HP DC 7600 desktop, which itself in on line 24/7. It only irritates me that after several reformats on ext4 & Btrfs fystems

it still announces SES-device, so can anyone give me atip how to properly make an absolute reformat which claim all of

320Gb for Linux. As I understand SES system was installed it when I got from an PC-withWin system.

Personally I left Windows long time ago when it was as ver 3.1, later I was using in my work NT4.0 FTER WHICH i CHANGES ME TO linux from Debian vers 3. 1. I have been satisfied with several Linux versions, feeling myself more and

more satisfied with several Ubuntus Mints and other choises of Linus. Not an one if those OS-s has disappointed me.
