Wd passport (wdbbep0010bbk-besn) not working

I have been using this 1TB external drive for almost a year. Suddenly it bacame inaccesible. The drive is detected by the OS (Win 7 x64bit). And it is asking to format the drive to use. I have some important files in it. I can hear clicking noise from the drive. I used Gsmart control to test the drive. i had attached the results herewith. It showed Current Pending Sector RAW value is 169. I read it is a bad thing on net. Can i able to recover the data?? Please guide me.

Hello,

It is possible the partition is corrupted and you will have to format the drive in order to use it again.  It may be possible to still extract the data utilizing data recovery software. There are several kinds of Data Recovery software available. If you do a web search for Data Recovery it will yield plenty of data recovery software options.

Thanks mate. But is it the only option? I cant format and recover everything. There are files with almost 600GB space.

Hi I’m Andrew. I have the similar issue with my 2TB drive. And it has only been 3 months since I purchased it.

Is there any WD service center that can assist on the data recovery and format it for me?

I am in Penang Island, by the way. Thanks.
