WD My Passport | Not detected automatically after every restart

I have bought this WD My Passport 3.0 recently. I leave it connected to my desktop which is running on Windows 8 Pro 64-bit. The computer is not able to detect the Hard drive automatically. Every time, I have to disconnect it and reconnect it in order for the computer to detect it. All the WD Apps are installed and are updated. No change. Any suggestions??

Try updating the drivers for the USB controller

try a different USB port, preferably the ones on the rear end

Is Windows 8 listed as a supported OS? There may be an issue right there.
