WD My Passport 1.5 TB USB 3.0 SLOW transfer rate?

Just bought 2 of theses usb 3.0 drives. I know that I am limited to the max read speed of the original drive to destination. But they are both identical plugged in a usb 3.0 connector on the board. The transfer starts at 70mb/s and drops down to a steady speed of 20 mb/s. I am running Windows 8 x64. I also enabled the drive caching on both drive and no speed improvement.

Any help with this ?

Hi,

Please Make sure that your system is configured to control the drive under the USB 3.0 specification.

1-Verify that you have a USB 3.0 host adapter or motherboard.

2-If the motherboard has embedded USB 3.0 ports, be sure the drive is connected to the USB 3.0 ports. Some motherboards have 2.0 ports in one area and 3.0 ports in another.

3-Contact the motherboard or host adapter manufacturer to verify that the proper USB 3.0 controller drivers are loaded correctly.
