Hi, if possible try using another USB cable, be sure to connect the Passport directly to the PC, avoid USB extension cables and USB hubs. If the problem continues, you can try to contact one of the data recovery companies that WD recommends. Check the link below for more info.
It will be difficult to know what is the exact problem that is happening to your Passport, but it can be related to data corruption or hardware problems. By connecting the USB cable directly to the PC, I mean connecting the USB cable that came bundled with the Passport directly to one of the USB ports on your computer. Since the Passport is visible from the computer window, another option that you have is to use a data recovery program, WD doesn’t have any data recovery software that you can use, but searching on Google you should be able to find several options. Firmware issue guys. Check for your local data recovery companies. With right knowladge and skill this is not that hard to correct. if I have time this week I will post up a video to show how we deal with this issue.
