WD Essentials 500G External Drive wants me to reformat

Hi All,

I have a problem with my WD Essentials 500G External Drive, all of a sudden, the computer asks me if I want to reformat the drive. 

It also takes a lot longer for the drive to show up on the system. This was working fine before.

Any suggestions on what to do? there are files that I need on the drive.

I’m out of options.

The My Book could have a data corruption problem, if you need to recover your files, you should be able to do it with a data recovery program. With the help of Google you should be able to find several options.
