WD Elements SE ridiculous low transfer speed

Hi. Since I bought this external hard drive that the transfer speeds are very low (between 200KB/S - 1MB/s). Is this normal? I’m using USB 3.0 with updated drivers.

I could add the million problems I already had with this brand, namely when the drive suddenly is not recognized by any computer of the family but, for now, since I already kind of fixed that, I’m wondering if this speed is normal since in the website you defend USB 3.0 provides transfer up to 5Gb/s (really???). I know this speed is probably the speed transfer to the device cash, but still, we’re talking about transfer speeds 625 times slower (at its best) than what you “sell”. I appreciate any help/enlightnment you can give. Thanks in advance.

TiagoUA,

Such speeds are not normal. We recommend installing and running our Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows (WinDLG) utility for Windows users. Information regarding our WinDLG utility can be found at the following link.
