Hello,

In terms of trouble shooting what you have done so far?

  • Did you test your drive with a different USB cable?

  • Did you test your drive using a different USB port preferable the one on the back?

  • Do you have any other USB device connected to your computer?

Hello,

I am having similar problems to the person you replied to.

My friend has the same External HDD and I used his USB cable on another computer and it did not work. I also tried using his HDD with my cable and it didn’t work.

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks!

I am sorry for replying late.

Yes I have tried all those things. I have tried with 2-3 different cables. Tried a different USB external drive with the same cable as well and it works.

I have attached the drive alone and with other USB drives as well but it did not work :frowning:

Also i have tried different USB ports as well. I also tried opening on different computers, one with Windows 7 and one with XP.

Well, it seems like the drive is not getting power and is faulty. The only recommendation is contact WD for replacement, you can do so either by phone or email.
