USB 3.0 issues - Error 0x80070037 during transfers

Sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask.

I have a My Passport Essential SE 0740 1TB and an Asus N54SV notebook computer.

While transferring large files via the blue USB 3.0 port, I randomly get an error:

Error 0x80070037: The specified network resource or device is no longer available.

The drive then dismounts and disappears from “My Computer.”  Unplugging and replugging the USB cord brings it back.

I have disabled all “power” chokers so there shouldn’t be any disruption in power.  Also, all firmwares are up to date.

This error/issue does not occur when I use the USB 2.0 ports.

Transfer speeds are also not up to par.  The drive is doing about 20-30 Mb/sec while the same drive gets anywhere between 60-90 MB/sec on my office notebook computer (A53SV).

Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

I have tested this with a coworker’s FreeAgent Go drive and the results are similar.  Ok on my office notebook, but the same problems on my home notebook.

Since this only occur in your Home computer, I suggest you to contact ASUS to see if there is any update to your USB 3.0 drivers that might fix this issue.
