Trying to put info from old computer on new one

I hooked it up on new laptop and installed the WD Passport apps, I saw on the desktop that the shortcuts were there.  Then the utilities one wanted to update so I downloaded it and now the only shortcut is the security one (after restarting it like it said to).  My back up info is from Windows 7 (32 bit), this new one is Windows 8.1 (64 bit) if that matters. I can’t find the Smartware to open it up.  I uninstalled it all then did the whole process again to make sure I did see those shortcuts before I updated the app, they were there.  Anyone have any ideas?  I have never tried to “retrieve” before I have only backed up the old computer that croaked a few months ago. As my name says I’m no techie :smiley:
