Does the Passport Essential USB drive go to sleep after time not used? Can this be set? Does it depend on what it’s hooked up to or WD software installed?

You are correct Smartware is the one who setup the drive sleeping process.
Smartware being on the PC. So no sleep if drive is connected to a router or WD TV Live?

I apologize, it was my impression your drive was connected to the computer. Smartware controls computer settings. For the WDTV and the router the drive will spin down after some of inactivity.
Thanks, I didn’t specify. It’s used on both the pc and WDTV. I disconnect it when I’m done with it. Wanted to keep it on the router but not if it don’t sleep.
