In order to provide you with better guidance please let me know what is the error you get when you try to open this files?
Please know, that the Smartware software has an option to retrieve files that have been deleted from the computer. When you go to the “retrieve” tab you may click on the “show deleted files” option and you will see the deleted files on the retrieve list.
If you delete just a part of a document and save the document if you want to recover this deleted section you will have to retrieve a previous version of this document since WD Smartware does automatic backup, the last version will also be missing the deleted section.
