My Passport

Hi,

I have had no problems with my passport for years running on windows 7, but i have just had to buy a new laptop that has windows 8 and i cant transfer all my files/data across. Everytime i try and open it i get this message:

“the application has encountered an unexpected error and is now exiting”

I have updated the software from your website but still no luck. I have read the official solution from WD but that hasnt changed anything. Also have googled and tried to read some of the solutions there, but a lot of them are also too wordy and complicated.  I am not particularly technically savvie so need help in a fairly basic form - do you know what i need to do?

These are my new laptop specs:
Acer Aspire V5-571G, Intel Core i3-2365M Processor, 15.6" HD Screen, Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB HDD, DVD Rewriter, Dedicated GT 620M Graphics, USB3 | HDMI | Bluetooth, Backlit Keyboard, NX.M4WEK.001

Hello,

Make sure that you new laptop is up to date. I mean, all the windows updates already installed and get the latest version for the flash player and JAVA.

If stills the same, try unistalling the software and install that again.

I have done all those things and still get the same exact message.
