My 1TB passport suddenly stopped working with windows 7

I have around 100 GB of movies on my 1TB drive and can’t access them. Windows now says that I must format my drive before I can use it. All these movies were put on there with the same computer that I am using now. If I re-format the drive I’m afraid I’ll loose all the work it took to download and save all those movies, to say nothing of the value of the movies. I checked my computer management and the drive shows up as Healthy primary partition 931.48 GB RAW.

Raw means the drive is corrupt. This might help  http://www.easeus.com/datarecoverywizard/recover-raw-drive.htm or as a last ditch you might try running the conversion for changing the drive from FAT32 to NTFS. that sometimes restores a  RAW drive that was formatted NTFS. This link explains the command prompt  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/214579
