I have a WD Sharespace 2TB storage device and wanted to know why the Device name is not recognized or displayed in windows. I’m using windows 7 and my computer found and installed the WD Sharespace device as you can see from the image, however when I double click on the WD Sharespace (Device name “Storage1”) in network to access Storage1 device as it should however it uses it’s IP address "192.168.0.101 not the device name. (See image >Network>192.168.0.101)
So if I was too enter [\Storage1](file://storage1/) into the address plane it does not recognize the device, however if I put [\192.168.0.101](file://192.168.0.101/) in the address plane it access the device perfectly. Why can’t I use the device name to access it?? I’m assuming I have the windows setup not correct???
