Can a My Passport Ultra be connected via a USB port on a Wifi Router and provide back-up for devices on a Wifi network?
It should be visible as a basic drive, as long as you haven’t enabled any of the special features which need software/driver support (locking or encryption for example). The WD software installed on the local machine won’t be able to see the drive, as it can seemingly only deal with local USB ports not networked ones.
Hence the basic operation only (without drivers) should work, but for example you won’t be able to properly use Smartware to do the back-up (although Smartware Pro may be able to do it by treating the Ultra as a generic network drive).
