Back-up in "FILE MODE"

I installed a new PASSPORT portable drive and successfully backed-up files in “FILE MODE” from one hard drive on my PC.

When I tried to back-up files in “FILE MODE” from another hard drive, I saw the directories tree displayed in the left pane but I could not mark any of the directories selected for back-up.

There was a notice of “ready to perform backup” but no “start backup” button was displayed.

I did not back-up any files from that hard drive in “CATEGORY MODE”.

This is odd.

You can try some basic troubleshooting like:

  • Restarting the computer
  • Power cycle the drive

I did all the “basic troubleshooting” before I posted my question.

Any ideas on how to make the new WD PASSPORT function properly?
