Any way to copy very large files within WD My Password

I copy large files ( for virtualbox ) that reside on WD My Passport ultra 2TB.

Wanted to see if there is a way to initiate a copy that device would copy internally without going out via USB 3 and then writing back to it self. 

Is there a way device would simply copy the file internally?  It would be so much faster since source and destination is the same.

If its only one partition on the drive the file will just be moved.

If you are transferring to another partition within the drive it might take a bit longer.
