1TB WD My passpost HDD loads slow and disconnects when finished

I have this HDD for about a year and have never had problems with it til yesterday. It was fine 2 days ago but yesterday it just started to load slow and once it is finish load the HDD is disconnects and trys to load again. This happens over and over again.   What can I do?

well well well…after trying everything it loaded correctly  and I am able to transfer somethings off of it now.

If any one know what happened or what I can do if happens again please post ideas.

Hi and welcome to the WD community.

I’d recommend running a diagnostic test on the drive in case the unit is experiencing some file system errors or also try to use a different cable in case it might be a problem with the USB cable connection.

I have tried to run a diagnostic test on the drive but it will not stay conncected long enough to do one and I have tried 3 different cables to the drive. I have also tried another computer no luck. Is this just a failed drive or is there anything I can do?

The 1TB HDD  has 3 partitions it finish loading one but one it gets to the 2nd and if luck to the 3rd it disconnects and trys again. Once to 1st one is loaded it ask to scan for a fix and trys to load the 2nd. It takes a really long time for the 1st one to load. I have tried I lot of things but can’t get it to stay connected long enough to get file off of it or to run any test on it.

Thanks for you help if any one else knows what I could do please help I have class tomorrow and I need this soon.
