1TB Passport using on avg 25% CPU, WHY?

Why should Mypassport be using so much CPU? I am on the current WD Smartware version 2.3.0. Running Windows 8 64-bit. on in Intel i5 with 8GB RAM.

If you are using Smartware to backup your files you will see and active process (WDBackupEngine.exe) when your computer is being scanned.

I’ve changed my BU frequency from Continuous to daily.

That seems to have resolved the CPU usage.
