Using a 1TB My Passport drive on Windows 8 64bit.

This drive does NOT consistently get recognized.

I have done the WDFirmwareUpdater when the drives been connected (otherwise the updater doesn’t find it eiter).

I’ve run the system with and without the SES 64bit drivers.

Is there a surefire way to get this thing to be consistently recognized by my system (Dell Latitude E5530)?

Everyone’s told me to stay away from Western Digital and I’m beginning to know why…  My other WD portable (500gb) worked perfectly

Try connecting to a different USB port…

Make sure there’s not a driver conflict or signature problem

when the drive does not show, try going to device manager and disk manager to see if something shows there
