How do I make a My Cloud Share show up/act like a Dropbox account?

When you signup/open a basic Dropbox account and download the software/utility you get several things by default:

  1. Dropbox shows up in ‘Favorites’
  2. A ‘Dropbox’ folder is automatically dreated in your user root folder
  3. The ‘Dropbox’ folder is automatically set up to synchronize with ALL computers/devices that access that Dropbox account
  4. You will get messages when files are added/deleted/etc. to the content in your Dropbox
  5. You can invite and share others to have access to folders in your Dropbox.

Can you get ANY of this same functionality with the WD My Cloud device and software/utilities? How?

All I can seem to do is map a network drive to a share in my device

1- Very dificult to answer search chain in google “add folder to favorites windows 8.1” first result:

3- In case dropbox servers are up…if not zero files.

In MyCloud app for mobile there are auto sync options. For pc i use winscp or other tools to sync folders.

4- Other users will sure can reply this…

5- did you see the MyCloud dasboard?

Escuse my spelling or I’ll check all of yours for typos.

2 - ‘Dreated’ might be ‘Created.’ I kow that can be a long stretch to figure out even with the context

3 - The functionality exisits within Windows to do all of this. Figuring it out is the hard part. There should be no reason to use third party tools like ‘SyncToy.’ I’m not opposed to using third party tools but would like to use a native solution if possible.

4 - Huh? Talk about cryptic

5 - Yes, I’ve seen the Dashboard and if you even begin to say it’s a great, informative tool then you’re postings have no relevant help whatsoever.

You’re right. Google is so complex, who would have thought to go there first. Interestingly enough I actually figured out how to do that all by my lonesome but when you try to do this with a ‘Share’ on My CLoud you can’t. The functionality does not exist. You must first create a file/map/etc. to that share but trying to add it to your ‘library’ or anything else will result in a message saying ‘No can do, this folder must be indexed.’ That can only be done if you can make the folder shared and capable of having the ‘offline settings.’

Give me a little benefit of the doubt.

So, let me ask you this? Have you been able to add a ‘Share’ on My CLoud to your favorites? Didn’t think so.

Reposting because I forgot to click ‘Email when someone responds’

Quick apology.

You can drag and drop a ‘mapped’ network sevice to ‘my favorites’ but it does not support syncing or anything remotely close to Dropbox.

What you can’t do is highlight the Share and right click and given the option to ‘Add to favorites’
