Having problems with remote access to My Book Live from Windows XP I noticed the following, now closed, thread:

As mentioned there, I get informed by the java applet that I should reconfigure MBL to use standard ports.

Quite unfortunately, however, my ISP does not let through incoming traffic to ports 443 or 80, thus using standard ports is not an option.

I am a bit surprised that My Cloud apparently does not verify the real reachability of the MBL from the internet but claims that everything is all right. It took me quite some time to find out the nature of the problem in the first place.

Is there any solution to circumvent the problem with Windows XP in order to get it connected?

Hi,

It’s unfortunate that your ISP does not allow you to open those port as they are necessary for the unit to get remote access.

Perhaps, any of the users on the community has any information about a different way to set that.
