Can't connect to My WD Cloud using android app in LAN

I re-read your response carefully.  Your second sentence is pretty much the gist of it.  It prevents apps from writing into folders not owned by the app.  Which means unless the OS grants permission to the app to write, then it wont write.  In our case, the function to save music or photos or videos from the WD My Cloud app wont work because the OS is preventing the app from creating a new folder preventing it from saving files to the phone.

But I’ve found a solution for Galaxy S5 and Note 3 users (practically anyone on KitKat).  But it requires that you root your phone.

Step 1:

If you download the TowelRoot apk from http://towelroot.com, this will root your KitKat device.  Reference link below:

In the App store, download the app SDFix, made by NextApp,Inc.  This will now unlock the app permissions that Kitkat created in the Android OS.    Reference link below:
