Workaround to the horrid 1202 error

After trying many times the WD “fix” that doesn’t work (Answer ID 8700 – " Solution: Windows requires the network connection cache to be flushed. To flush the cache…"), I came up with the following workaround:

I am running Windows 7 Professional, but this will work on Win7 Ultimate also.

Start XP Mode (assuming it has been installed).

Start a browser in XP Mode (make sure Java is installed in XP Mode).

Visit the WD2GO web page and log in to your account, and follow the procedure to see the shares and open in explorer.

This causes the share to be accessed inside XP Mode, and you can copy any file to/from the Win7 drives from/to the XP Mode drive that was mapped by WD2GO.

I realize this is a cumbersome workaround, but it does work since the MyBookLive was never mapped on my home network inside of XP Mode.

If anyone has a procedure that actually works in W7, let me know.  This is on a laptop that is carried from home where it accesses the shares with no problem.  Even running the WD “flush” procedure or unmapping, disconnecting the drive does not work.

haven’t got this error

sound like a good work around
