WD Elements Play 2 TB and bit depth

Hi,

can the WD Elements Play 2 TB play .mkv MPEG-4 files with a bit depth of 10 bits?

I tried playing such a file but the frames were “pixelated”.
I’m Just wondering if it’s because it isn’t supported, or because of another reason.

Greetings

The Elements Play supports up to 8 bits.

Thanks, where did you get that info from? I didn’t find any info in the user manual about bit depth.

Also, is it possible to change the font color  of the subtitles? (I can’t read the subs when the background is white, there is no black outline applied to the subs)

And if it isn’t possible (and that’s probably the case) to do with an option in the media player. Is it possible to alter the font of the subs with another software? do i have to reencode the file for the changes to apply? I am new to encoding, so i need a few pointers/tips/links to good guides/tutorials.

Also, is there an option to turn the subs on by default?
Will there be 10 bit support in the future? (is it even possible to apply a firmware update to support 10 bit depth? or is it imposible for the hardware of the player to correctly interpret 10bit depth?)

I know these are a lot of questions, and any help is much appreciated!

Kudos to whoever can fill my lack of knowledge!

Greetings
