WD World won't power off/can't access network

So, I have a peculiar issue. I have a 1TB WD World. When I plug it in, the bottom LED comes on immediately and I can hear the HDD start to spin. When I plug it into the router or directly into my computer with the ethernet cord, nothing shows up, it’s as if the drive weren’t connected at all. I need to get the data off of this drive and I’m not sure what my options are. Any guidance would be appreciated, else I’ll have to take it apart and attemptto plug the HDD into my desktop.

I’ve tried to reset the thing but pushing and holding the power button does nothing, and neither does pressing the reset button. I’m at a loss, here, I’ve never experienced this before.

Sorry to hear that you cannot access your files. You can try to open the enclosure to recover your files, but note that this will void the warranty, I recommend to call support first to let them know that you will try to recover your files. The internal format of the hard drive is ext3, so it wont be recognized natively by Windows PC’s, you can install a program that allows you to read this format or connect the hard drive to a Linux PC. WD also has a list of recommended data recovery companies in case you are interested.
