Removing the drive from the enclosure will void its warranty.
If the drive is already out of warranty, you can be attempted this as a last resource and if you are familiar with this process.
WD does not provide assistance or instructions for removing a drive from the My Book World enclosure.
Some users in this forum have been able to retrieve the files using a Linux CD with the drive.
