I’ve searched but haven’t found anything for this strange problem im having. I use the MyBook as a NAS to my media center and download movies onto it. One some of the movies, at exactly the same spot (usually about 20 minutes in) the video will freeze and so will whatever program im using to play it (XBMC, VLC, or WMP) The MyBook will then become unresponsive and I can’t access the share. I can still ping the MB, however with the static IP i set up. The only thing that works is to power off the MyBook and power it back on and wait until the share starts working again.
I’ve never seen an AVI file screw with a network connection before. Even stranger is I don’t even have to be playing the file - if I just try to copy it off the MyBook onto my PC it freezes at the same point during the transfer??
So far this has happened with 3 different movie files from 3 different sources. The only common denominator I can see is that they’re Xvid files, but not every Xvid file will freeze. Does anybody have any ideas?
Also I just now realized that if I skip over the “bad” part of the video (just skip to like 22 minutes in) the rest of the video will play fine.
