Help needed to recover deleted folder on WD Mybook World Edition (Blue Circles)

HELP !!!

 

Can someone please advise me how I can recover a deleted shared folder on my WD Mybook World Edition (Blue Circles) ?

 

The folder contained only jpeg photos.

Would it not be possible then to connect the WD MyBook world Edition to a laptop using USB then use a third party data recovery software package.....In the same way as some can recovery from digital cameras, USB drives, SD Cards etc?
