8TB on a 4TB sharespace

I recently purchased 4 WD20EARX disks. A friend of mine tried to set them up on a sharespace he originally bought with 4TB but he is unable to get the disks formatted.

He tried this on two differents sets of storages of the same type. We were told buy the local WD sales guy that if the system was originally used for 4TBs, it won’t be possible to set it up with 8TBs, but the same friend had another such storage system and was able to set it up with 8TBs.

Any ideas?

We do not recommend upgrading the drives since the controller card on the Sharespace might only support drives with similar capacity and same model type.
