Joke aside it could be the case that the 05 firmware only works with the LSI controller but that will be up to you to find out if your RAID controller support can't/will not help you.

This firmware only works with specific WD drives, 01U1B0 which I did not have. They both have been returned.

No problem. That thread looks familiar and that is the drive version I had, 02W3B0. My ReadyNAS required firmware 04.05G05. The firmware on 02W3B0 cannot be upgraded to 04.05G05. The same mess I ran into.
