Western Digital Green Caviar 1TB is too Slow

Hello,

I recently installed a pair of WD Caviar Green 1TB in raid 1 in a Dell Poweredge, before I had a pair of WD of 250 GB and it worked very good.  My OS is Linux UBUNTU and I read in WD site and I havent found anything about a driver for my OS, but my server is now too sloooooooooow....

What can I do?

Please help!

Re: Western Digital Green Caviar 1TB is too Slow

If you purchased a WD10EARS drive, then the issue is that it's Advanced Formatting.  Unless your Linux OS can align the partitions, you will get extremely slow performance.   I'm not familiar with Linux utilities, but you are looking for something that will align a 4K drive's partition, and then format it in EXT.  If you're using NTFS, you could use our Advanced Formatting utilities on the drive's downloads page to align and format it for you.  Or, just align it for you.
