My Sony Viao laptop will not start windows. I lost the recovery disks. The drive was pulled from the laptop and put on a usb adapter and connected to a desk top computer. Device manager says the drivers are installed and are working properly. The drive never shows up in mycomputer. The usb adapter works because other drives can be seen.
I would like to recover some of the data off the drive. Are there any options available? Thanks.

You can try using Recuva or Photorec to recover your drive information......

The computer does not see the drive but device manager says the drivers and the drive are working properly. These recovery progams will not work until the computer can see the drive right?

software recovery tool can start scanning the drive if it mounts in disk management.
if your drive doesnt show up in there, software wont see it.
when your drive powers up in USB enclosure, does it make any sounds? does it stay spinning??
