WD2003FYYS (RE4) Clicking Sound

Hi, I have 2 new WD RE4 drives, used for 1 days and it starts producing clicking sound during windows starting & data read/write. The sound is not very loud but can definitely be heard. Is that normal?

Re: WD2003FYYS (RE4) Clicking Sound

Clicking drive is never a good news. If there is no valuable data just return to WD for replacement. Otherwise consult with data recovery firm. Self attempts of recovery can lead to platter damage, and permanent data loss.

Re: WD2003FYYS (RE4) Clicking Sound

Wait, do you mean 2 clicks at power on? Calibration (couple of clicks) at the power on is normal. If your drive makes consecutive clicking sounds and has no access do user data - is not normal.
