Unable to reformat my passport essential

I tried to reformat but it's not working.   In the diskmgt menu the delete is grayed out even if I right click either on volume on the blue bar the delete is grayed out so I'm unable to access it.  The file system is reading UDF and not NTFS.

I don't know what to do again but I want to erase all the files.  I want to be able to use the drive again.   It's not reformatting.

I've tried this aa couple times and it's becoming frustrating.

Re: Unable to reformat my passport essential

You can Try This Very Careful..

You have to Know what is the Number Of the Drivedisplayed under disk management,

If you just have 1 Internal HDD It Should Be disk 1.

Then you try This>

1. Open Command Prompt
2.Type diskpart and hit enter
3.Type Select disk  and the number of the drive displayed under disk mgmt example Select disk 1  and hit enter
4.Type Clean and hit enter. The drive will be listed as not initialized and Unknown under disk management. Please be aware that this process is data destructive. Make sure the correct drive is selected to avoid cleaning the wrong drive.

Good Luck!!

Re: Unable to reformat my passport essential

Try Writing Zeros to the Drive with the Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows utility.
