HDD has been locked

[ Edited ]

My WD5000AAKB-00H8A0 f or unknown reason became locked.

After  unlock this by Zone Unlocked it show in BIOS as 8Gb capacity.

But Windows see all 500Gb.

How return it on his factory capacity in BIOS?

And what happens?

Thanks.

Re: HDD has been locked

what do you mean it became locked?  it is just an internal hard drive, correct?  what does zone lock mean?

Security: high,ON

WARNING: THIS DRIVE IS LOCKED BY ATA PASSWORD

Above output from diagnostic program MHDD.

It shows "Security: high, ON".  MHDD also shows that hard drive is locked by password.

But, by another program, ZU (Zong: Unlock Password)  I unlock the HDD.

Yes, this internal hard drive  "WDC WD5000AAKB ".

Re: HDD has been locked

sorry, this drive locking by firmware is outside what I know.  how old is your computer?  and have you ever done a bios update? maybe the bios is having a problem seeing the drive because it has a drive size limitation.  whereas windows doesn't.
