Backing Up Windows Vista before moving to Mac with My Cloud

I have purchased a WD My Cloud 3TB NAS.

Please don’t shoot me down for my ignorance but I need to gain some understanding as to whether I can do the following.

I have been using a Windows Vista system for some years and next week I am purchasing an iMac.

I need to back- up my old Windows OS computer before placing it into storage and intend to use the WD NAS to do this.

However, when I connect the WD My Cloud NAS (with this Windows back-up) to my new Mac, will it still retain the Windows back up?  I have read that the NAS hard drive will be reformatted to accept the new iOS Mavericks system.

Or do I need to back-up my Windows system to another storage option altogether?

As I say, please don’t attack my ignorance if this is such a stupid question, like a lot of things, if you know the answer then not knowing seems so stupid!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Hello.

The drive does not require any reformatting in order to be used on Windows or Mac. Your Windows backup will remain on your NAS drive when you use it with Mac. However, please note that you will not be able to restore the Windows backup on the Mac computer.
