Re-using MBL hdd?

I have an old 1g MBL that does not work (but the hdd should still work).  I’d like to take the hdd out of it, re-format it and then use it as just a second internal hdd.  I’ve seen the instructions on how to remove the drive, but once I remove it from the enclosure and remove the controllers - so it is just a bare drive - what else do I have to do (if anything) just to plug it into my desktop as a second drive and reformat it.  I am not concerned about any data that was on the drive.  Thanks

You’d probably need to delete all the existing partitions, create a new partition, and then format that partition.

The Windows disk manager can do all that.

If you are set on not using the NAS anymore, do not read pass this…

However, what is wrong with it? If it is hardware, nic/motherboard, yeah, it is pretty much dead.

Software, you should be able to restore it to factory defaults either by the dashboard or the debrick guides on this forum.
