Port forwarding router for sftp connection to MBL

I have a netgear WNDR4300 wireless router.  I went to set port 22 to port forward my router to my MBL.  But I don’t see that option.  Only see port forwarding and then to forward a port I need to assign the port  for telnet, ftp, etc.  - but no sftp.

Is that a problem?  I suspect my wireless router does not support sftp - am I right?  If so, how can I get around this?

If I have to buy a new router, which one would you recommend that allows me to SFTP, is dual-band, and has at least one usb port for me to plug my printer into?

Thanks.

No need for that.

All you have to do is select ‘Add custom service’ and name it as you please.

The name doesn’t matter.

You could name it lola and if you open port 22 it will be sftp/ssh.

BTW, it would be safer to use a non-default port and disable root access.

Thanks.  I really appreciate the safety tip too.  I’ll set it to port 23.

How would I disable root access?

as vkehayas said… “use a non-default port” which will also imply standard tcp ports.

22 is ssh/sftp/scp
23 is telnet
