WD2Go app - unable to play video

I have numerous .m4v video loaded on my MBL and they play/stream just fine. All were ripped w/Handbrake and formatted for ATV3. So I have some MKV movies that were reformatted w/Handbrake using the same settings.

When the WD2Go app tries to open those videos I get an unable to play this video error. They play just fine on my Mac and Win7 machines in iTunes, as well as VLC and QuickTime.

Any idea why this is happening?

Apple’s native video player, which WD 2go uses, doesn’t support MKV format

Your can download the files in WD 2go, then “Open In” any number of apps that support MKV.

I know MKV is not supported but this video was recoded w/Handbrake to m4v like all my other videos (ripped DVD not bluray). It plays fine in iTunes.

I’m not sure, but 9GB filesize? Thats VEEY big for iPad compliant video.  I dont think WD 2go can play files that large.  It also seems WAY too big to have come from a DVD.  Heck, a DVD can only old 9GB including all the menus and bonus material.

This file, at 9.43GB is too big to be a DVD.

Its was 16.85GB MKV files ripped from bluray. After handbrake it was reduced. So this is a limitation then.
