Planning to buy WD My Passport Essential SE USB 3.0 2.5 Inch 1 TB External Hard Disk .(India)

Intend to use it with ubuntu linux . 

Please suggest if this is compatible .

I am using 500 GB version of this drive, formatted ext4, as a backup drive on a fedora 16 linux box.  Because I only have USB 2 ports, it works, but is not exceptionally fast at data transfer.
