Updating to Yosemite

I have a MacBook Pro and depend heavily on my My Book Live network drive for backups and storage.

I am hesitant about upgrading to Yosemite as things work perfect in Mavericks. Has anyone tried the update? Does it work OK with the MBL?

I am running Yosemite beta ever since it was out and I had no problems.

As always, you miles may vary!..

Thanks for this. I’d like to hear from others if they’ve had similar luck.

I upgraded to Yosemite, which took over an hour and a half to do so. Then, afterwards I received an error from Yosemite that my My Book Live software wasn’t compatible and was moved to a different folder.

So, I did the following:

  1. Checked to make sure I could access my My Book Live hard drive in Finder, which I could, so I know it’s available and able to be detected by my Mac.
  2. Downloaded the latest version of the My Book Live software from  http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?level1=1&lang=en
  3. When I tried to install the new My Book Live software, the software couldn’t detect my My Book Live hard drive.
  4. So I opened my browser and went to http://mybooklive/UI/
  5. Clicked Settings > System > Mac Backups > Disabled Mac backups
  6. Clicked Settings > Utilities > Reboot/Shut Down > Reboot Device.
  7. After it rebooted I used the My Book Live software to rescan my network
  8. Followed the rest of the instructions to set it up.
  9. Went back into http://mybooklive/UI/ in my browser.
  10. Clicked Settings > System > Mac Backups > Enabled Mac backups

Time Machine is requiring a new backup for integrity purposes, but it’s working again.
