Smartware drive password questions

Hi,

Here’s my situation.

I’ve got a networked MBL to which I have a Time Machine backup set up from my Mac. I’m now going through the process of setting up backup for my Win 8 PC (and later an xp machine) - and am probably going to use SmartWare. I have arrived at the “Password Protecting Your Drive” section of the SmartWare manual (p35) and have a few questions:

If I apply a password here, will that lock out my Time Machine backup (which connects as Guest)?

Will it mean that any other users I set up in future will need to know the smartware password to access the drive or run their own backups? - and how would this work with any individual passwords I may assign them?

Is that Smartware password the same as the one that appears as an option in the “MyBook Live Dashboard”?

OR - is this password just for “admin” level?

Thanks

Hello, what you are referring to only applies to external USB drives, you have the option to create a password protected shared folder and use it to backup your files. Check  page 77 of the My Book manual for more information.
