Slow transferring multiple files

Hi everyone,

I just picked up a My Book Live 2T after my other hd crashed. I was able to retrieve the files from the crashed hd, and now I’m transferring them to the MBL through a wired connection. I was transferring an iTunes folder with multiple small files (1500 or more) that only added up to about 150mb total. The transfers take about 17mins. Is this normal because of how many files, no matter the total size of files? I transferred a 4GB file taking about 4-5mins.

Yes, that’s normal to some degree.

Transferring lots of small files of a smaller total volume will take longer than transferring few large files that have much larger total volume.
